Evington Echo in Print
The Evington Echo is a community led, 16 page A4 publication that is printed six times a year and delivered to 5,900 houses and institutions in and around the Evington ward, which is situated within the City of Leicester on the East side. The Echo magazine is run by a team of volunteers. The website at www.evingtonecho.uk also managed by volunteers, gives more information about news, projects, events and opinions in our local area.
The Evington Echo was first printed in 1981 and has continued without fail. During the 2020’s pandemic just one issue was distributed via local shops and just another issue was a little late. The Evington Echo has kept the same objectives “to provide a platform for local news and opinion, to promote local community groups and events, record Evington past and present and celebrate local talent.” The magazine and website relies on content from its readers, local clubs and societies and partners.
Any surplus money from advertising the Evington Echo magazine goes to further the charitable aims. In the present changing climate, the Evington Echo magazine does well to remain sustainable.
If you live near Evington village (LE5) and wish to pick up the last printed copy of the Evington Echo go to Bennett’s Hardware Store, Main Street, Nisa Local, Main Street Evington, J & A Pharmacy, Main Street Evington or Evington Library. Alternatively, the latest copy of the magazine will be shown on this website and on www.evingtonecho.uk.
