Integrated Care Board Review of Surgery Closure Process a Whitewash!
A complaint to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman was put on ice when the Integrated Care Board announced it was going to conduct an ‘independent ‘ review of the process. Following a Freedom of Information Request, a copy of the report has been released. It says a lot but it also says nothing and is simply a self congratulatory covering of the tracks that oversaw a flawed and possibly illegal consultation process. The report fails to recognise the level of opposition to the closure and underplays the implications of the consultation survey which only elicited 84 responses, of which 61% opposed the closure. It also denies that the closure has caused any negative impact!
It is an assault on democracy that the Board of the ICB can simply rubber stamp such a corrupt report in an attempt to wash away the stains of a wholly inappropriate and unwarranted action. Below is a link to the full report:
Here also is a response to that report together with an appendix to the response paper:

St Elizabeths Medical Practice
It is now intended to refer the matter back to the Ombudsman in the hope a judgement will be made against the ICB.
