having greener gardens improves lives – and hedges are especially helpful.  They can replace walls and fences and they bring many benefits.  It’s not only that birds love them (though the birdsong they bring to our street is lovely).  They also reduce air and ground temperatures during heatwaves, as wel as reducing flood risk related to heavy rain.  And they bring privacy and beauty and support our mental health.
