Friends of Evington Seeks New Trustees and Volunteers

Friends of Evington is inviting local residents and supporters to attend a recruitment drop-in event on Saturday 4th July 2026 at Evington Village Hall.

The recruitment event will take place from 12.00pm until 2.00pm at Evington Village Hall, Church Road, Evington, Leicester LE5 6FA.

The charity is looking for people who would like to help sustain and develop some of Evington’s most valued community activities, including the Evington Echo, environmental projects, wellbeing initiatives, and wider community engagement work.

Complete this form here or below to tell us about yourself and what you are interested in doing.

The event will provide an opportunity to meet current trustees, learn more about the charity’s activities, and discuss ways of getting involved. Friends of Evington is particularly interested in recruiting new trustees who can help guide the organisation through its next stage of development and ensure that its work continues for future generations.

The charity is seeking people with a range of skills and interests. Areas where additional support would be especially valuable include governance, administration, safeguarding, finance, fundraising, community engagement, and project coordination. Those who are not yet ready to become trustees are also encouraged to attend, as there are a variety of volunteer opportunities available.

Chair of Friends of Evington, Baljit Singh, said:

“Friends of Evington has achieved a great deal through the commitment of local volunteers and trustees. We are now looking for people who are willing to help carry this work forward and ensure that the charity remains strong and sustainable in the years ahead.”

Visitors will be able to speak directly with trustees about the responsibilities involved in trusteeship, the appointment process, and the different ways that volunteers can contribute to the charity’s work. Information will also be available about supporting the future development of the Evington Echo and ongoing environmental and wellbeing activities.

Friends of Evington believes that strong community organisations depend on local people being willing to share responsibility, contribute their skills, and help shape the future of their neighbourhood. The charity hopes that the event will encourage new people to become involved and help continue the work that has benefited Evington residents for many years.
