Saturday Heritage Fair Returns in November

10th Saturday Heritage Fair Announced

We are delighted to announce that the 10th Saturday Heritage Fair will take place on Saturday 21st November 2026, between 10.00am and 3.00pm, at Leicester Adult Education Centre, 54 Belvoir Street, Leicester, LE1 6QL. The Saturday Heritage Fair is a free city centre event bringing together independent heritage organisations, and the community.

The fair offers a chance to explore the many different ways people collect, preserve and share the stories of their communities.  It’s free.

The day focuses on living heritage, family stories, photographs, documents, oral histories, personal collections and the work of independent groups whose activities often sit outside formal museum collections.

The fair will bring together community archives, family-history groups, local societies, oral-history, projects, documentary and media organisations, and people developing collections of their own.  Previous fairs have explored subjects including military and local history, language and cultural heritage, family research, scrapbooking and practical approaches to creating small personal collections.

Visitors do not need to be heritage specialists.  It’s an informal meeting place where people can wander between stalls, look at displays and, above all, start conversations.  Visitors are encouraged to bring along a photograph, document or object that has a story attached to it.

Alongside the stalls the day includes a programme of short talks, workshops and documentary screenings.  A language cafe and a chance to chat with Soar Sound volunteers, provides an opportunity to talk in English or other languages, and share the stories connected with personal objects and memories.  The Old Library Cafe is open for refreshments.

The day runs from 10.00am to 3.00pm, with free admission and no booking required for most activities.

Please check the website above for more details.

This day is built around conversation, shared memory and the idea that heritage belongs for everyone.
