Evington Park Car Park Signs

Following discussion at the ROSE meeting in August it was pointed out that parking in the village might be eased if signage to the car park at Evington Park was improved. The Chair was mandated to take this up with the City Council. A reply has now been received from the Major Projects team, Transport Strategy Section at the City Council as follows:

“We have conducted a site inspection and can see that there is a directional sign for the park with the ‘P’ parking symbol on it located on Evington Lane just before the main traffic light as you approach the village from the west.

From the other direction, on Main Street, we have noted that the sign for the park with the ‘P’ parking symbol is currently on display for motorist on approach to the main traffic light. Therefore, we plan to install an additional sign plate on Main Street before approaching the main traffic lights.

We feel that this addition will improve visibility and help drivers safely navigate toward the park and the car park without introducing excess sign clutter in the area.”

Hopefully in future this additional sign will assist in informing motorists of the availability of parking close to the village centre.
