A Sign of Change
Following confusion over the impending closure of Church Road and a phone call to the City Council on Friday, the signs notifying motorists of the situation have now been swapped to match the information on the officially posted Traffic Notification Order. So instead of the road being closed from 27th April 2026 for four weeks it closes to traffic from tomorrow, 13th April for five weeks.
Although this is to facilitate mains replacement by Cadent Gas following the work carried out along High Street and Stoughton Lane in August 2025, it is unclear if the City Council will capitalise on this and also complete the proposed traffic calming measures.
