What is to become of the old J&A Pharmacy site that used to house our post office and pharmacy. Well, it is becoming a medical centre. That is beyond doubt and is confirmed by notices in the window. The nature of the centre and its operator/owner is still under wraps though.
It appears it may well be private sector, but we might be pleasantly surprised.
I visited the building on the afternoon of Friday 24th October 2025 and spoke to the Site Manager of NTG Solutions (who are carrying out the renovations), Leon Brown, by telephone as he was not working on site. He authorised me to speak to ‘Ham’ who was on-site, who he said could answer my questions about the nature of the centre, who will be running it and when it might open. On speaking to Ham he became more guarded and telephoned Mr Brown. He confirmed that the refurbishment would be completed by the end of December 2025 with an opening possibly sometime in January 2026. He would say nothing further but arranged for me to meet with the Site Manager on Wednesday next when he returns to work. So, watch this space!
