Why the work replacing gas pipes on Church Road, Evington was stopped

An earlier post on this website reported that the the City Council had twice cancelled the work planned along Church Road, which Cadet were managing.  This was to replace gas pipes.

Why was this?  At that time local residents had only heard what the workmen said, and they weren’t very pleased at all about the cancellations, saying it threw out all the future plans, and as this was a central government scheme across the whole of the UK, the work had to be done.

An Evington Echo reporter followed this up through the local councillor for Evington, Cllr. Zuffar Haq.  He said that his experiences with Highways officers led him to believe that there was definitely going to be another point of view.  Cadent employ another company who provide a team of workers and Leicester City Council were not satisfied with the quality of work from this company’s employees, so they asked Cadent to find a better team to do the work.  The work will be done along Church Road once new arrangements can be found.
