Surgery Update
Following my previous article about the old surgery building being up for rent, I visited the site on November 11th 2025, with Aman Verma from the agents Eddison’s. He explained that Dr Wood had sold the building to a private individual without advertising on the open market. That individual wishes to lease the building as a GP surgery or other business/office premises. The building has limited scope for development and under a lease cannot be substantially altered. Aman told me there has been interest shown from a couple of GP practices, but it is unknown how they will address the refusal of the ICB to allow the building to be deemed fit for purpose. He suggested this would become cleared when the prospective tenants completed their due diligence.
I suggested that ROSE would be happy to work with any GP willing to consider renting and reopening the surgery to have the ICB authorise it.
As I was leaving Aman was awaiting another prospective tenant, who is considering a beauty clinic/parlour.
It would be a boost to the Evington Village community to have the surgery reinstated. A petition has been started on Change.Org to this effect, please go to the website and look for “Reinstate Evington Village GP Surgery and Pharmacy.
