PEOPLE AND POLLINATOR FUNDING FROM THE COMMUNITY LOTTERY FOR EVINGTON

Friends of Evington/Evington in Bloom would like to thank the lottery players for enabling us to spend £10,000 on this exciting project that has worked in three main areas in Evington, Leicester to develop Leicester City Council land for People and Pollinators.  This has been about creating thriving spaces for people to enjoy and be involved in the process of promoting biodiversity to help all our pollinating insects and other pollinators.

This picture shows six of the Friends of Evington trustees celebrating the Community Lottery grant.

There are pictures below about the three main projects:  (1) Main Street Evington, (2) the Garden of Hope on Davenport Road and (3)  Sedgebrook Open Space.

Along Main Street Evington we have purchased more bulbs and perennial plants for containers and beds for sustainability purposes. The Canna lilies and any pelargoniums can be overwintered and generate more plants. There are 13 container collections and 3 cut out beds in Main Street. Main Street is the main shopping area in Evington. These photos were taken in April ’22 (Spring flowers and August ’22 (Summer flowers).
