Move to Tackle Evington Road Parking Chaos

Move to Tackle Evington Road Parking Chaos

Anyone who has had to negotiate Evington Road, especially in the evenings and at weekends, will be happy to hear that an additional CCTV camera is to be switched on and will begin working on Monday 5th January 2026. The first camera was installed during 2025 in a bid to stop illegal parking at bus stops, which increases the traffic problems when busses cannot pull over to pick up or discharge passengers.

The New camera will be at the junction with Conway Road opposite the first camera and for the first fortnight it will record licence plates of any vehicle parking in the bus stop with only warning letters dispatched to the offenders.

From Monday 19th January 2026 the system goes ‘live’ with penalty notices of £70, (reduced to £35 if paid within a 21-day period), issued to those caught out .

It is hoped that this will allow buses to run on time by keeping bus clearways and bus stops free of unauthorised vehicles.
