Friends of Evington – Evington Park House Project Outline

Project Outline:

  • We start with the vision that we want Evington Park House to offer the space for a community resource.
  • We organise a meeting which is a ‘Call for Action’.
  • We map out a logic line for what we think needs to be done, always bearing in mind where we want to be at the end, with a successful bid, which integrates a well-researched business plan.
  • We work forwards and backwards along the logic line to manage and organise successfully.
  • Key to this is the organisation and management of a community support initiative:

Active participation is essential. The benefits to individuals who become involved are: status, access to resources, writing co-funding bids, security and circular community support, with the benefits staying in Evington.

Our planning needs to take account of a range of related topics, such as courses to build our capacity to undertake the bid, tracking of documents and application forms, community asset mapping to identify our resources, and details of our stakeholders, partners and supporters:

  1. Members who are trustees, group leaders and active supporters.
  2. Affiliations who are partners, and friends.

We need to draw up a comprehensive plan for community development of Evington Park House, covering areas of potential future activity, including: environmental wellbeing, personal wellbeing, arts and culture, civic engagement, learning, and sustainability. We need to take an integrated and holistic approach to enhancing Evington Park House as a community resource, with involvement and engagement built in at the start.

Here’s a potential sequential order for issues that could fit into the project management plan for this community initiative:

Consultation Phase

  • Identify offers of help to gather initial support and resources.
  • Establish accountability measures for transparency and trust.
  • Develop a call to action to mobilise community response.

Planning and Resource Allocation

  • Define the project’s vision and basis, ensuring alignment with community values.
  • Secure funding through budget management, legal support, and bid writing.
  • Engage with community services and outline project engagement strategies.

Active Participation Encouragement

  • Foster active participation with a clear explanation of the work involved.
  • List tasks and rules for participation to manage expectations.
  • Emphasise the importance of commitment and accountability to support community development.

Learning and Capacity Building

  • Offer courses and formative experiences to build community capacity for managing the project.
  • Map community assets and identify needs to effectively tailor the project’s scope.

Outreach and Communication

  • Utilise various communication methods such as social media, face-to-face interactions, and community bulletins.
  • Share services offered by the project and quantify the impact to attract more interest.

Implementation and Operation

  • Action items with associated dates and milestones to maintain momentum.
  • Bridge invested resources with community interest to sustain the initiative.

Review and Adjustment

  • Address any confusion, bid issues, and security concerns that may arise.
  • Review accessibility and storage for project materials and resources.

Community Support and Expansion

  • Secure circular community support by engaging local researchers and stakeholders.
  • Expand the network to include more members, supporters, trustees, partners, and stakeholders.

Finalisation and Reporting

  • Prepare and submit final bids for the project.
  • Report on outcomes, financial expenditures, and environmental impact.

Evaluation and Feedback

  • Analyse how many individuals and entities provided community support.
  • Reflect on the project’s core aspects and the roles played by different partners.
  • Measure success against the set objectives and identify areas for improvement.

These steps represent a logical flow from the conceptualisation to the realisation of a community-focused project, encapsulating the dynamic and multifaceted nature of community engagement and development.
