Gardens around Evington

These photographs are intended to show you a selection of gardens around Evington where the owners have wanted to enhance their front gardens with a variety of plants.  Taking these photographs made me think about what I liked and what improvements I could make to my own front garden.

My problem is that I’m not a garden designer.  I asked a garden designer how he goes about designing a space and he says, make a list of all the things you must have first.  In this day and age, it will be off-road parking space for most people, but after that I would want to have a mixed hedge near the road and a climbing plant against the house and keep what I already have,  somewhere for small trees and perennial beds of mixed plants.  For edging to a border I would like to add a variety of low growing perennials.  I’m pleased my garden space for cars is made from gravel and allows run-off, so it never floods.
