Flash Floods on 22nd June 2023 – a story from Evington Road, Leicester

The flash floods on 22nd June 2023 saw a month’s rainfall within 2 hours.  The road called Evington Road, in North Evington ward, Leicester, was badly flooded.  The road looked like a river with debris floating on top.

The enclosed videos are courtesy of Iqra from the shop called ‘I Fix Screens’.  Iqra said, “in our shop water poured in from the roof and damaged all my paperwork.  My next door neighbour was badly hit and many of their items were washed into the road.

I live round the corner from the shop and my family had to help keep the water at bay with continual brushing.  My mother’s house was not so lucky and the whole of her downstairs rooms were flooded.  She doesn’t know if the landlord will be able to provide new flooring.
