Vi Dempster, assistant City Mayor for children, young people and schools, Evington ward councillors  and Millers’ team representatives all attended the official opening of the College.

Students and staff moved into the new building at the end of last year and then the old buildings were demolished. Cllr. Vi Dempster, as she unveiled the plaque, said that this £26 million transformation was the most ambitious Building Schools for the Future project yet and was part ofthe £350 million BSF transformation of all secondary and special schools in Leicester.  Guests were taken on a tour of the site – see pictures below.

The new college has been constructed by the Miller Construction management team. The Senior Project Manager, Steve Merrin of MCUK, has won through to the finals of Construction Manager of the Year. This prestigious award is one of the highest awarded by The Chartered Institute of Building in recognition of an individual’s management expertise and contribution to the construction industry. The eventual winner will be announced at the annual dinner in London later in the year.
