Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is an independent local charity serving the communities of Leicester and the Leicestershire districts of Blaby, Harborough, Hinckley & Bosworth, Melton, North West Leicestershire and Oadby & Wigston. During 2021 – 22, our trained advisers supported 26,725 local people to solve their problems.

As well as providing information and signposting through our helpline we deliver appointments by telephone, video and email, and are offering face-to-face in some locations for those with communication difficulties. We’re here for everyone – please don’t wait until you are desperate to contact us.

Anyone needing advice can ring 0808 2787970 (City) and 0808 2787854 (County) between 9am and 4.30pm on weekdays. Non-urgent or out of hours enquiries can be made by email from our website. In addition to our generalist services, we also offer the following specialist advice:

Macmillan Welfare Benefits – 0300 456 8400

Citizens Advice and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to provide welfare benefits advice to people affected by cancer.

Specialised debt and money advice service for County residents, supported by The Money Advice Service.

For people who live in Leicestershire (excluding Leicester City) there is Citizen’s Advice are now offering budgeting advice called Money Max.

This specialist service, Money Max has recently recruited a budgeting expert to provide support and assistance to clients with money management and budget planning thanks to  to Leicestershire County Council and the Multiply project that is funding this additional advice service. 

To access this budgeting support, you must meet the eligibility criteria which are:

  • Be aged 19 or over
  • Be a resident of Leicestershire (excluding Leicester City) 
  • Do not have a Level 2 maths qualification

During the appointment, Citizen’s Advicce budgeting expert will focus on practical money management skills including working out income and outgoings, identifying priority bills, look at reducing non-essential spending and will complete a monthly budgeting plan for you to take home with you. 

Our aim is to assist clients to maximise their income and in turn minimise their financial burden through a time of increased costs. We believe that this support will improve the day-to-day lives of local residents who may be at risk of falling into debt or being unable to afford necessities such as energy bills and food. 

Virtual and face to face appointments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between the hours of  9am to 4:30pm. To book your appointment, you can fill out a form on our website at:
