A Meeting 11th July at Evington Village Hall, at 11:30

To discuss saving the countryside, preventing traffic chaos and slowing global warming.

You may regard the plans for 4,000 houses south of Gartree Road and another 900 houses south of the A47 at Bushby as remote so far as Evington is concerned, you may even have breathed a sigh of relief that it is not closer to Evington, however with no strategy to improve the roads network it is plain for all to see that these developments, if approved, will impact Gartree Road, Shady Lane, Main Street, Goodwood Road and Evington Lane and Evington Road as traffic through these ‘pinch point’ routes increases.

In addition, the Wellcome Trust, through Urban and Civic, hold 4,300 acres of land they plan to put forward as strategic development sites. This will see building from the southeast edge of Evington to Great Glen and Oadby, thereby closing the green wedge settlement separation that currently exists.

Come and hear about the plans and what can be done to change them to preserve the countryside, avoid additional flooding, and avoid even more congestion on the roads.

On 11th July at Evington Village Hall, at 11:30, Dr Henri Winand, who leads the Stop The New Town group, will brief the people of Evington on the building plans, likely effects and how to persuade the authorities to use all available, less environmentally destructive, sites.
