Leicester Communities Together Festival to Showcase Local Services in Jubilee Square

The Leicester Communities Together Festival in Jubilee Square connects residents with local services, charities and health providers. With stalls, performances and family activities, the event highlights the value of face-to-face support. Evington Echo volunteers will report in collaboration with Soar Sound, sharing stories and strengthening community connections across Leicester.

On Saturday 13th September 2025, Leicester’s Jubilee Square will come alive with activity as the Leicester Communities Together Festival brings residents, charities, health providers and community groups together for a day dedicated to building stronger connections across the city. The square, at the heart of Leicester’s city centre, will host information stalls, stage performances, and interactive activities designed to make support services more visible and accessible to everyone.

The purpose of the festival is clear: to give residents the opportunity to meet service providers face to face, to ask questions directly, and to find out what support is available in their communities. Organisers believe that in-person conversations are far more effective than relying on leaflets or websites alone, allowing people to share experiences, gain reassurance, and make lasting connections.

A wide range of services will be on hand throughout the day. Leicester City Council will showcase its adult social care provision, with staff available to explain how people can access help at home or through community initiatives. The NHS will provide health checks including blood pressure monitoring and cancer awareness information, while voluntary groups will offer advice on dementia support, disability rights, mental health resources, and opportunities to get involved as a volunteer. Mosaic 1898 will highlight its work supporting disabled people and their families, ensuring that inclusion remains at the centre of the day.

As well as the information stalls, Jubilee Square will feature live performances, family-friendly activities such as face painting and stilt walking, and a welcoming atmosphere designed to make everyone feel part of Leicester’s community life. The day will be officially opened by representatives from Leicester City Council and local community partners.

Evington Echo volunteers will be reporting from the event, working alongside Soar Sound community radio. They will be gathering interviews, recording stories from visitors and service providers, and capturing the atmosphere of the day to share with readers and listeners across the city. This collaboration will ensure that the festival’s message of inclusion, accessibility and connection reaches beyond Jubilee Square and into the homes of people across Leicester.
