Evington Ward Councillors

The three councillors that were elected for Evington ward at the election of City Councillors on Tuesday 4th May 2023 were as follows:

Zuffar Haq (Liberal Democrat) 1841 votes 

Deepak Bajaj (Conservative) 1794 votes

Jenny Joannou (Conservative) 1657 votes 

Since this election, Deepak Bajaj has left the Conservative Party and rejoined the Labour Party.

Leicester City Council write the following:

Councillors play a key role in the city: • They are a voice of the community, representing local people and communities • They are champions of the users of local services • They help shape future services for the benefit of local people, working in partnership with organisations such as the police, voluntary and community sectors, health and other public bodies and the private sector • They oversee Leicester’s biggest employer, the city council, which employs around 11,000 staff • They play a major role in making local government work by developing a better quality of life for the people of Leicester.

This means that councillors are expected to be visible in their local communities through ward surgeries and helping to run and organise Ward meetings.

Ward surgeries for Evington are held at Evington Library, Evington Lane LE5 6DH on the first Tuesday of each month from 4.00pm – 5.30pm.

Cllr. Zuffar Haq holds regular ward surgeries every Saturday morning from 11.00am to 12.00noon at the Eden Cafe, 11 Main Street, Evington Village LE5 6DN.  He can be contacted on 07817107022.

The next residents ward meeting is on 1st October at 6.00pm at Judgemeadow Community College, Marydene Drive, Leicester  LE5 6HP.  Police will be in attendance.
