Break-in at Nisa Local
The Nisa Store in Main Steet suffered an audacious break-in on Monday 28th October.
Two people cut their way into the store through the security shutters and made off with two cash tills and an amount of alcohol. Internal CCTV alerted the security company who in turn alerted the police and the owner, warning him not to intervene until the police arrived.
The police were no more than five minutes arriving but by then the robbers had fled the scene leaving no fingerprints or clues thus far.
The store security shutters were in the process of being repaired on Tuesday afternoon, the cost of repairs and the disruption to trade seemingly outweighing the haul looted by the intruders, begging the question, ‘why go to such lengths for such little reward?’
Karan Gorania, owner and manager, putting a brave face on it, said he hoped to be open again by Wednesday 29th October, but with no tills would have to trade on a card only basis until new tills arrived.
Honest traders do not deserve to be targeted in this way and I am sure customers and Evington residents wish Karan and his wife a speedy return to normality.
Anyone with any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, should call the police on 101.
